Kokeshi dolls have been made for 150 years, and are from Northern Honshū, the main island of Japan. They were originally made as toys for children of farmers. They have no arms or legs, but a large head and cylindrical body, representing little girls. From a simple toy, it has now become a famous Japanese craft, and now an established souvenir for tourists.(From Wikipedia),

are typically carved from wood and hand painted.  Correctly they are girls.  They are a Japanese craft, popular with tourist and come in all sizes and varying quality.  The trait that makes TOKYO a Kokeshi is she has a large head stuck on a body without any limbs.  We’ll soon post some photos.  Bear with us as we currently have our house on the market.  We live in Peachtree City, GA.  Peachtree City is one of the top places to live in the USA.  #8 on the Money List.  See:  http://money.cnn.com/magazines/moneymag/bplive/2009/.
