While I usually appraise fine furniture, art, and decorative arts for an insurance appraisal I do still like kitch and come across it often in estate appraisals or evaluations. Tokyo found a piece of kitch today and she really wanted to be the FIRST Friday Find, so here it is:
This is a 1971 cork board in plastic frame measuring 23″H x 18″ W with very few pin holes, great original paint(in Tokyo’s favorite color too!). There are no breaks to the cork and the cork still retains suppleness. The image is painted on the surface and is dated 1971 by United Feature Syndicate. The retail asking price for this piece would be in the $15-$20 range. It would appeal to persons who grew up with it, Snoopy collectors, buyers for public places like shops and restaurants or period movie set coordinators.
Valerie performs appraisals of items that range from a collection of cool stuff such as this to terrific Tiffany lamps and mirrors. Consult with us on your “Friday Find”. Check back weekly for Tuesday’s Term, Thursday’s Tip, and Friday’s Find. Other ways to keep up:
